Anti-Narcotics Cell, Ludhiana arrests one person identified as Gurpreet Singh, alias Gopi, 29, resident of Shaheed Karnail Singh Nagar, Ludhiana under the NDPS Act.
Ludhiana, August 28, 2013: Anti-Narcotics Cell, Ludhiana has arrested one person identified as Gurpreet Singh, alias Gopi, 29, resident of Shaheed Karnail Singh Nagar, Ludhiana under the NDPS Act.
Police claimed to have recovered 60 grams of heroin from the arrested person- the value of which in the international market is worth Rs. 30 lakh.
According to the Cell’s in-charge Harbans Singh, the accused was apprehended at a naka laid in the area near CRPF Colony (Jawaddi Canal). The accused was driving a car when apprehended.
On checking, the consignment of narcotics was seized from pocket of clothes of the arrested accused. The naka was laid under the ongoing campaign against narcotic smugglers.
In the preliminary investigations, the accused has told the police that he got addicted to heroin about a couple of years ago. But this kind of addiction was very costly therefore he also started sale of heroin to earn for fulfilling his list for addiction, the police said.
Further police investigation is on.
