DMC&H, in collaboration with Seva Canada, inaugurated a Vision Centre at the Urban Health Centre, Shimlapuri, under Project ROSHANI — an initiative aimed at enhancing paediatric and community eye health services in the Shimlapuri area.

Ludhiana, May 13, 2026: DMC&H, in collaboration with Seva Canada, inaugurated a Vision Centre at the Urban Health Centre, Shimlapuri, under Project ROSHANI — an initiative aimed at enhancing paediatric and community eye health services in the Shimlapuri area.
The centre was inaugurated by Sh. Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, along with Sh. Mukesh Verma, Treasurer, DMC&H Managing Society; Dr. Ashima Taneja, Additional Medical Superintendent; Dr. Gurvinder Kaur, Professor and Head, Department of Ophthalmology; Dr. Anurag Chaudhary, Professor and Head, Department of Community Medicine; Dr. Priyanka Arora, Professor, Department of Ophthalmology; Dr. Umang Mathur, CEO, Shroff Hospital, Delhi, and other faculty members from the Departments of Ophthalmology and Community Medicine.
Bipin Gupta congratulated the team and stated that the Vision Centre will make quality eye services accessible right at the doorstep of the community.
Dr. G.S. Wander praised the project’s holistic approach, remarking, “DMCH has always believed in reaching out beyond hospital walls.”
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Priyanka Arora, Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, and Project Lead, shared that the Vision Centre aims to provide comprehensive eye examination, spectacles, and surgical services to the community population. “Through Project ROSHANI, we are committed to ensuring that every child and adult receives the gift of sight, irrespective of geography or affordability,” she said.
Dr. Anurag Chaudhary emphasized the partnership between the Departments of Community Medicine and Ophthalmology, which makes this initiative an ideal model of integrated community-based healthcare delivery.
The launch of the ROSHANI Vision Centre marks a new milestone in DMC&H’s journey towards eliminating avoidable blindness and bringing light, vision, and hope to the community.
