Rooted in Punjab’s Faith and Traditions, ZEE5 Original Series, ‘Shabad – Reet Aur Riwaaz’ Reaches Chandigarh With Lead Actors, Suvinder Vicky and Mihir Ahuja

Chandigarh, February 4, 2026: Actors Mihir Ahuja and Chandigarh’s own Suvinder Vicky recently visited the city as part of the promotional journey for their upcoming ZEE5 Original series Shabad – Reet Aur Riwaaz. The team began the day by seeking blessings at Gurudwara, where they also interacted with renowned ragi singers, honouring the rich spiritual and musical traditions that form the soul of the show.
Continuing the visit, Mihir and Suvinder headed to Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjheri, where they engaged with students during the Sahityam Literature Festival. Mihir spoke candidly about following one’s passion while navigating family expectations, striking a chord with the young audience.
Shabad – Reet Aur Riwaaz is an emotionally grounded coming-of-age drama set in Punjab that explores the fragile bond between a father and son. The story follows Ghuppi Singh, a 16-year-old living with a stammer, who struggles between carrying forward his family’s sacred legacy of ragi singing and embracing his own dreams of freedom on the football field. Through themes of faith, inheritance, individuality, and empathy, the series gently asks whether legacy is something we inherit—or something we choose.
Speaking about the visit, Mihir Ahuja shared, “Shabad – Reet Aur Riwaaz is a very special show for all of us because it is deeply rooted in Punjab—its faith, traditions, and riwaaz. Beginning our journey in Chandigarh felt incredibly organic, especially starting with prayers at the Gurudwara, given how central faith is to the story. Interacting with students at CGC was particularly meaningful, as many of them are navigating the same questions of passion, expectations, and legacy that the show explores. Their curiosity and honesty reminded me why this story feels so relevant today. Chandigarh welcomed us with warmth, making this visit both grounding and emotionally fulfilling. I hope that people of Punjab resonate with our series and give it all their love”
Suvinder Vicky, for whom the visit marked a heartfelt homecoming, added, “Promoting Shabad – Reet Aur Riwaaz in Chandigarh felt extremely personal—it’s my home. Interacting with the local media here, talking about this journey, and sharing it with people who know me and my roots made it even more special. Meeting and interacting with the ragi singers, and being able to honour the tradition and spiritual legacy of ragi through the show, felt deeply fulfilling. This series is rooted in faith and tradition, and beginning its journey in my own city, with blessings from the Gurudwara, felt like the perfect way to bring it to life.”
