Rohtak, July 19, 2026: The Haryana State Higher Education Council has awarded a grant of Rs. 32 lakh under the Haryana State Research Fund to the research project of Prof. Harish Dureja, Dean (R&D) and Director of the Centre for IPR Studies at MDU.
This grant will provide fresh momentum to high-level research in the field of health sciences at the university. The project, led by Prof. Harish Dureja, is scheduled to run for a period of two years. Prof. Krishna Kant Sharma from the Department of Microbiology will serve as the co-investigator.
Prof. Harish Dureja explained that the objective of this research is to develop a state-of-the-art nano-formulation based on Mometasone Furoate for the treatment of severe lung diseases like Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). The research will specifically focus on the potential for effective and targeted treatment of COPD caused by cigarette smoke. It will pave the way for developing a drug delivery system that is more effective and has fewer side effects for treating this disease in the future.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Punia extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Prof. Harish Dureja and his colleague for the project. He stated that MDU's goal is not merely to achieve academic milestones but to promote impactful research aimed at solving real-world issues related to society and human health. He expressed confidence that this project would set new benchmarks in the treatment of serious ailments like COPD.
