Durga Puja, the festival of Goddess Durga, the goddess of power, is being celebrated with great enthusiasm at the local Jat Bhawan under the aegis of the Bengali community of Rohtak.

Rohtak, September 28, 2025: Durga Puja, the festival of Goddess Durga, the goddess of power, is being celebrated with great enthusiasm at the local Jat Bhawan under the aegis of the Bengali community of Rohtak.

As told by Sunit Mukherjee; on the occasion of Shashthi Tithi on Sunday, Goddess Durga was worshipped with traditional rituals and chanting. Everyone participated in the flower offering with devotion. Along with Goddess Durga, idols of Lord Ganesha, Lord Kartikeya, Goddess Saraswati, and Goddess Lakshmi are also displayed in the puja pandal.

Pandit Deenbandhu Chakraborty, from Bengal, chanted mantras in praise of Goddess Durga, and Swagat Chakraborty assisted in the puja rituals.

Chief coordinator Somen Malik said that the Durga Puja festival will be held until October 2nd. On this occasion citizens of Bengali community including retired professor of MDU Dr Ghosh Rai, Anjali Ghosh Rai, Neetu Balik, Kavita, Manvendra Indra, Prashant Saha Rai, Dol Alok Sen, Kajal Sena, Anuradha Chatterjee, Sunit Mukherjee and other dignitaries were present.

Traditional Dhak playing in Durga Puja was done by Dhaki Sadhu Ruhi Das and Rajiv Das from Bengal. Devotees danced to the beats of Dhak. Evening Aarti dedicated to Maa Durga was also organised on Shashthi Tithi. Women and youth danced with great enthusiasm in the Garba Night organised after the evening Aarti.
