Rohtak Administration to Develop Smart Market in Sector-3 with Modern Urban Infrastructure: DC Sachin Gupta

Rohtak, May 14, 2026: In a major urban infrastructure initiative aimed at modernising civic amenities and improving the urban experience for citizens, the Rohtak district administration has initiated plans to develop a Smart Market in Sector-3, envisioned as a modern, organised and citizen-friendly commercial hub aligned with contemporary urban development standards.

Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta chaired a detailed planning meeting at his camp office with Municipal Corporation officials to deliberate upon the conceptual framework, infrastructure requirements and citizen-centric design elements for the proposed development.

The Deputy Commissioner said the proposed Smart Market will be developed as a well-planned urban commercial space with a strong focus on functionality, accessibility, sustainability and public convenience.

“Rohtak’s urban infrastructure is being strengthened with a long-term vision. The proposed Smart Market in Sector-3 is being conceptualised not merely as a commercial complex, but as a modern public urban space offering convenience, accessibility, sustainability and improved quality of life for citizens,” said the Deputy Commissioner.

He said the administration is working to ensure optimal land utilisation and systematic commercial planning, with dedicated spaces for shops and business activity while maintaining orderly movement and efficient public access.

Recognising one of the most pressing urban concerns, the Deputy Commissioner directed that adequate parking infrastructure be integrated into the project to ensure traffic decongestion and prevent roadside encroachments and congestion in the surrounding area.

As part of sustainable urban planning, dedicated green zones and landscaped public spaces will be developed within the market precinct to enhance environmental quality and provide a clean, pleasant civic environment.

Citizen comfort and community usability will remain central to the design, with proposals for public seating areas, smart gazebos, smart benches and improved pedestrian-friendly spaces.

In line with future-ready infrastructure planning, the proposed Smart Market is also expected to include electric vehicle charging points, strengthening Rohtak’s transition toward cleaner and sustainable mobility solutions.

To ensure robust urban utility management, the project will incorporate service and drainage duct infrastructure for organised electricity, telecom and utility networks, along with efficient stormwater drainage systems.

The proposed development also includes enhanced civic and lifestyle infrastructure such as street lighting, high-quality roads and pavements, ATM facilities, fitness spaces, organised shopping infrastructure, clear signage systems, pedestrian footpaths, children’s recreational areas and aesthetic urban features including fountains.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasised that the administration’s objective is to create a safe, clean, efficient and visually appealing urban marketplace that reflects the aspirations of a growing city and delivers high-quality public infrastructure.

Officials said that the Smart Market proposal is being designed with a comprehensive urban planning approach so that Rohtak’s infrastructure keeps pace with evolving commercial and civic needs.

Joint Commissioner Manjit Kumar and other Municipal Corporation officials were present during the meeting.
