Rohtak Administration Remembers 1947 Partition, Honours Affected Families
On the occasion of Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, the district administration organised an exhibition at the Zila Vikas Bhawan showcasing the tragedy, displacement and struggles associated with the Partition of India and Pakistan in 1947. Through photographs and various archival materials, the exhibition highlighted the events of Partition, the suffering of displaced families, their struggles and their journey towards rehabilitation.

Rohtak, August 14, 2026: On the occasion of Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, the district administration organised an exhibition at the Zila Vikas Bhawan showcasing the tragedy, displacement and struggles associated with the Partition of India and Pakistan in 1947. Through photographs and various archival materials, the exhibition highlighted the events of Partition, the suffering of displaced families, their struggles and their journey towards rehabilitation.
During the programme, Additional Deputy Commissioner Narendra Kumar and SDM Ashish Kumar honoured the members of families affected by Partition by presenting them with shawls. The officials paid tribute to their courage, resilience, sacrifice and contribution to nation-building.
Members of the honoured families shared experiences of the hardships and displacement endured by their ancestors during Partition. They said that despite facing extremely difficult circumstances, their forefathers displayed courage and determination and rebuilt their lives in new places through hard work and perseverance.
ADC Narendra Kumar said Partition Horrors Remembrance Day was not merely an occasion to recall the pain of the past, but also an opportunity to draw inspiration to strengthen peace, harmony, brotherhood and human values. He stressed the importance of familiarising the younger generation with history so that future generations understand the significance of unity and communal harmony.
SDM Ashish Kumar said the sacrifice and struggles of families who endured the horrors of Partition, as well as those of their ancestors, would always be remembered. Visitors to the exhibition viewed photographs and other materials depicting various aspects of Partition.
Honoured Family Members
Those honoured on the occasion included Madan Lal Kathuria, Satpal Chawla, Manohar Lal Verma, Vilayati Lal Sehgal, Krishnavanti, Vanti Devi, Krishna Rani and Satish Katyal.
