Kapurthala, September 15, 2023: Pushpa Gujral Science City celebrated Engineer’s Day by organizing Robotics Championship for Engineering and Polytechnic students. The day is celebrated every year on September 15 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Vishveshvarya.  At this occasion, around 200 budding Engineer’s from different Engineering and Polytechnic colleges demonstrated their skills, creativity, and teamwork in designing and operating robots. The main objective of the event was to enable students showcase their innovation and technical prowess.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Rajesh Grover, Director Science City said that we live in an era where robotics and artificial intelligence are reshaping industries, economies, and even the way we live our lives. Today Robots are assisting doctors in surgeries, and even enhancing our daily lives with smart homes and self-driving cars. The possibilities are limitless.  Further, as we continue to advance in the field of robotics, it is imperative that we do so with ethical considerations at the forefront of our minds. We must ensure that the technology we create is used for the betterment of humanity and the preservation of our planet, he added.

Dr. Afzal Sikander, Assistant Professor, NIT Jalandhar assessed the robots' performance during various competitions and provided constructive feedback to the participants. This added an educational dimension to the competition, allowing students to learn from expert. Results of the competition are as under: A team of GNA University  ranked first where as  teams of  Lovely Professional University achieved second and third prize. At this occasion winner were awarded with cash prizes.
