Ludhiana, October 7, 2014: The risk taking capacity needs to be enhanced for every professional who wants to take up the role of an entrepreneur, expressed by Sumant Sinha, Chairman and CEO, ReNew Power Ventures Pvt. Ltd, Gurgaon while delivering a lecture on “How Renewable Energy Can Drive India’s Energy Future?” to the members of Ludhiana Management Association on Monday.
Sinha shared his experiences from his own journey from being a professional to an entrepreneur. Presently, he is running his own enterprise generating electricity through windmills with a capacity of 500 MW. He stressed the need that entrepreneurs should have clear-cut goals and be ready to face the failures. He elaborated that India needs massive investments to become an energy secure country. According to him, because of the ill-effects of traditional sources of energy on the climate, there is a need to create expertise and capacity in the renewable energy space. He compared the energy situation in various countries including China, USA and strongly recommended that the opportunities thrown open in the renewable energy space should be tapped by the entrepreneurs of the city.
For Punjab, he recommended the use of solar energy for overall development of the society in a sustainable way. He opined that roof-top solar panels will provide huge business opportunities for investment in the near future. He urged the youngsters to come forward and explore the possibility in renewable energy business.
In reply to a question, he said that solar energy is likely to boost economic activity in far-flung areas in India where the grid electricity has not reached so far.
While delivering presidential comments, Sachit Jain, urged the members to follow the foot-steps of Sinha and encourage professionalism in their organisations, and to become professional-owner rather than simply an ‘owner’.
Dr K.N.S. Kang, Senior Vice-President, LMA, proposed vote of thanks.
