Ricardo Rodrigues Martins- 3 Times Champion of Portugal and World no 16, is to race at MTB Himalaya 2013. The event is to be held from September 28th to October 6th, 2013. The adventure commences in Shimla on 28th September.

MTB Himalaya 2013 has had one track vision of Bringing India on the world map for cycling. In accordance to that, the organizers try to get top international riders to come and race in India. There is no bigger inspiration and motivator than to see top talent from across the world in our own country.
This year the organizers announce the Biggest Name to have stepped, onto the Indian Soil for Mountain Biking-Ricardo Rodrigues Martins. He needs no introduction in the cycling world. To start with; he has been the Portugal National Champion for 3 years straight. He has been a part of the Portugal National Cycling team for 8 years and World No 16 - World Team Time Trial. He has been Italian National team for 2 years - Ceramica Flaminia Bossini. He is also participant in All European Championships and numerous championships across the World. Currently, he works as a commercial adviser with Team Caja Rural and Adviser to many top Mountain Biking events in the World. He is also Manager: Skydive Dubai Professional Cycling Team.
Ricardo believes in what MTB Himalaya is trying to achieve. He has been very actively promoting the Himalayas as world destination for Mountain Biking.
“I believe that this race have potential to became one of the most important mountain bike stage races in the World!!MTB Himalaya has been able to establish India as a destination for world class mountain biking. I have been advising team HASTPA on how to make this race the biggest in the world. There is huge potential in this event. If the government of India provides enough infrastructural support i see no reason why this can’t be the best race in the world. I have worked on similar projects across the world - and if authorities and sponsors extend support it will become a top race. I have been interacting with the team and i think they have done a good job. Other world ranking riders are also looking forward to take part in the race. They will definitely follow me and come next year”, remarks Ricardo.
The organizers said MTB Himalaya Welcomes Ricardo Rodrigues Martins to the biggest event in Indian Cycling. "It’s an honor for the city, state, country that such a distinguished world renowned cyclist is coming to Shimla for a race”, they said.
They think India has arrived on the world cycling map.
