Kapurthala, May 22, 2014: Dr. R.S. Khandpur is presently Director General, Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala.
Prior to this, Dr. Khandpur was Director General, Centres for Electronics Design and Technology of India (CEDTI), of Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Govt. of India.
He is the founder Director of CEDTI, Mohali (now CDAC), which is the first ISO-9002 certified organization of the Ministry of Information Technology.
Dr. Khandpur is B.Sc. (First Class First from Panjab University), B.E. with Dinstinction from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and did Post-graduate research at Royal College of Surgeons, London.  He was conferred with Ph.D (Honoris Causa), Punjab Technical University.
Dr. Khandpur has authored 10 Books of international repute, which have received commendable reviews; he is holder of 6 Patents for innovative designs and has published over 60 Research and Review Papers, which are well-cited in foreign books and generals.
Dr. Khandpur has been World Health Organisation/UNDP Consultant to a number of countries.    
Dr. Khandpur is recipient of 1989 Independence Day Award by National Research and Development Corporation and IETE (Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers) Medal for outstanding contribution for Development of Electronic Industry.  
He is a member, Board of Governors, Punjab Technical University; Director, Board of Directors, Electronics Corporation of Punjab; AICTE Distinguished Visiting Professor and Member, Vision Group on IT set up by Punjab Government.  
He has served as Scientist for 24 years in CSIO, Chandigarh, a constituent laboratory of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), he was head of Medical Instruments Division (1975-1989) and Head of Electronics Division (1986-1989).  He was the Project Coordinator for India’s first Medical Linear Accelerator Machine for cancer treatment, installed at PGI, Chandigarh in 1989.  The present cost of machine is over Rs.3.00 crores.
Dr. Khandpur is a Member IEEE (Institution of Electronics and Electrical Engineers), USA; fellow of IETE (Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers) and Member, Society for Engineering in Medicine and Biology, USA.
Dr. Khandpur has 40 years experience in R&D, Technology Development, Technology Transfer, Education and Training, Consultancy and Management at national and international levels.
