Ludhiana, May 4, 2026: Former president of the District Congress Committee (Urban), Ludhiana, and former chairman of the Punjab Large Industrial Development Board, Pawan Dewan, met with residents of Model Town Extension to discuss local issues. During the interaction, residents expressed frustration over the lack of cleanliness and other basic amenities in the area.
Dewan said that people informed him the sanitation system in the locality is in a very poor condition. Shockingly, the land allocated by the government for a memorial dedicated to the renowned writer Sahir Ludhianvi has turned into a garbage dump. People have been throwing waste there, and due to the absence of regular cleaning, the area emits foul odors and poses a risk of spreading diseases. Concerns regarding law and order were also raised.
He expressed regret that despite the local bodies minister also being the area’s MLA, basic facilities remain neglected. He added that the Aam Aadmi Party should focus on delivering results on the ground instead of making claims.
Others present on the occasion included Nirbhai Singh, Harjeet Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Manjeet Singh, Harpreet Singh, Shamsher Singh, Baljeet Singh, and Satwant Singh.
