Residents of 514 villages ecstatic as they all of them get fully functional household tap connections 

Ludhiana: The residents of 514 villages of district Ludhiana are ecstatic as now they have 100% fully Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC) in their villages. They thanked Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for starting ‘Har Ghar Pani, Har Ghar Safai’ mission, that would benefit a large number of people, who earlier did not had access to potable drinking water.

    It is pertinent to mention that Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had launched ‘Har Ghar Pani, Har Ghar Safai’ mission as part of Punjab government’s campaign to accomplish the goal of 100% potable piped water supply in all the rural households of the state by March next year, thus making Punjab the first state in the country to achieve this distinction.

    Gurcharan Singh, former Sarpanch, village Bholewal Kadeem, thanked Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Punjab government for providing them with fully functional tap connections for potable water supply in 174 households of the village. He said that earlier, the residents faced problems as they used to get polluted water, but now with this new scheme, residents have heaved a sigh of relief.

    Gurdev Singh, Sarpanch of village Garha near Nurpur Bet, also thanked the Chief Minister for this special initiative of the Punjab government and said that people used to fall sick by drinking unfit water, which was mostly ground water. He said that we all know that the underground water is getting polluted day by day, but now with the supply of tap water, they feel it would help a large number of people to stay healthy.

    Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Mr Sandeep Kumar said that they have set a target of providing piped drinking water to every household of district Ludhiana by March 31, 2022. He informed that till date, 2,14,526 households of district Ludhiana have been provided facility of tap connections.
