Jhajjar, January 17, 2026: Keynote Speakers urged NSS Volunteers to contribute to social and national causes, participate in social work including manual labor, stay away from drug abuse and other addictions, and empower themselves by learning digital tools at the seven-day National Service Scheme (NSS) camp at Government College, Dubaldhan (Jhajjar).

 

In the inaugural session, Sunit Mukherjee, Professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at MDU and a renowned motivational speaker, said in his inspiring address that January 16th is celebrated as National Startup Day. He said that students and NSS volunteers can become proficient in digital tools and choose the path of self-employment by adopting an entrepreneurial mindset.

 

Sunit Mukherjee specifically informed students from rural backgrounds about agri-startups (related to the agricultural sector), social services sector startups, and startups in AYUSH and health-related services. He also introduced female students to various self-employment opportunities at the village level through creative skills.

 

Sunit Mukherjee, who began his teaching career at this very college, also shared memories of his college days.

 

Dr. Karmveer Gulia, Principal of Government College, Dubaldhan, said that in this seven-day camp, which will run until January 22nd, students will be motivated to contribute to social work.

 

In the second session, Prof. Ranbir Singh Gulia, retired Professor and HOD Political Science at MDU, and NSS Program Coordinator and  President's NSS  Awardee, highlighted the importance of NSS. He motivated NSS volunteers to work for manual labor, cleanliness, and environmental protection.

 

The stage was conducted by NSS Program Officer Dr. Randeep Singh. Camp Coordinator and NSS Program Officer Dr. Sarla, along with faculty members - Dr. Suman Kundu, Dr. Mayank, Dr. Renu, Dr. Somveer, Dr. Ashish, Dr. Rajesh, Dr. Suman, and Dr. Satendra, as well as non-teaching staff and students, were present on the occasion. The NSS volunteers pledged to adopt the motto "Not Me-But You" in their lives.
