Regional workshop on Improving Transparency and Accountability in Government through Effective Implementation of RTI Act-2005

Chandigarh, October 17, 2013: Regional workshop on the theme of ‘Improving Transparency and Accountability in Government through Effective Implementation of Right to Information Act-2005 is being organised by the Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration, Shimla on 30th November, 2013.
Disclosing this Official Spokesperson of the Government said that this workshop is being organised to provide forum for sharing of best practices and successes that have been achieved using RTI and to deliberate on the steps that need to be taken to further strengthen the RTI.
He said that papers from various stake holders on highlighting good practices in the implementation of RTI Act are invited for the workshop. They may relate to Awareness Generation, Capacity Building, Improving Record Management Practices, Pro-active Disclosures and Management of RTI related work within Public Authorities.
The Spokesperson said that the write-up should be sent in the specific format and papers highlighting good practices received by 13 November, 2013 shall be examined by an expert committee and four papers selected would be presented during the workshop. He added that cash prize would be given for each selected presentation.
Similarly Success stories on Right to Information are also invited out of which best five stories would be selected by a panel and cash prize of Rs 5000 would be given to each selected presentation.
Spokesperson further said that good practices from Public Authorities and success stories from RTI Activists, CSO’s and Citizens etc. are also invited for this workshop which should reach the Mahatma Gandhi  Institute of Public Administration, Chandigarh by 7th November, 2013. www.cityairnews.com
