Gurugram, May 18, 2026: Serious deliberations regarding environmental conservation and the Indian knowledge tradition were held on Monday at the 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' program organized at Gurugram University.
As the keynote speaker, the Chief Minister's Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Raj Nehru, stated that within Indian culture and its knowledge tradition, nature itself is revered as a divine entity. Centuries ago, our sages and seers conveyed the message of nature and environmental conservation—a message that urgently needs to be embraced once again today.
He emphasized that the environmental crisis has emerged as a formidable challenge confronting the entire world today. If concrete measures for environmental conservation are not undertaken in a timely manner, future generations may have to face dire consequences. He asserted that our own survival is contingent upon saving the environment; therefore, every individual must fulfill their responsibility by engaging in tree plantation, water conservation, and pollution prevention.
Presiding over the event, GU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sanjay Kaushik remarked that environmental conservation is not merely a responsibility, but a moral imperative. He encouraged everyone to join hands and work collectively towards the goal of environmental conservation.
Bharat Sharma, National President of the Environment Commission, outlined the framework and objectives of the 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' program. The Chief Minister's OSD, Gajendra Phogat, noted that Prime Minister Modi's vision is to transform the nation into a clean country—a vision in which environmental conservation holds paramount importance. During the event, the industrial firm RVR Innovation LLP also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Environment Commission.
Expressing deep concern regarding environmental conservation, the speakers and participants present at the event asserted that the onus lies not solely on the government, but on every segment of society to actively join the movement to protect nature. They emphasized that involving the youth in environmental awareness campaigns and engaging them in efforts toward sustainable development is the need of the hour. State President Rajesh Bhardwaj delivered the vote of thanks.
During the ceremony, several individuals were felicitated for their contributions, including Railway Board Member Amit Singh, social worker Ritik Arora from Mandi Gobindgarh, Convener Puneet Dhal, and Anchor Preeti Yadav. During this event, the Commission's OSD Harendra Sharma, DIPRO Bijender, Prof. Ashok Khanna, and members Kuldeep Sharma, Ramendra Sharma, Vidyasagar, Rajbir Kaushik, and Pawan Atri were present, along with other dignitaries.
