Punjab Welfare Minister Gulzar Singh Ranike on Tuesday in a review meeting with Seema Jain, Secretary Welfare Department and Director Paramjit Singhat Chandigarh.

Chandigarh, September 10, 2014:  The Punjab government has decided to strengthen the Welfare Department, especially at the Tehsil level for ensuring proper delivery of Welfare schemes to the beneficiaries in the remote villages and approved recruitment of 43 Tehsil Welfare Officers.
Giving the approval in a meeting held here today, Punjab Welfare Minister Gulzar Singh Ranike said that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal was focussing on streamlining the delivery system of all welfare schemes and ensuring transparency and accountability in this whole process so that fruits of all schemes reach the beneficiary without any difficulty. He said that welfare department has started the recruitment process and these vacancies would be filled very soon.
In a review meeting held with Seema Jain, Secretary Welfare Department and Director Paramjit Singh apprised the Minister that Rs. 30.49 crore has been disbursed to 20,328 beneficiaries under ‘Shagun Scheme’ from February 2014 till date.  Ranike directed that instructions should be issued to all concerned officials so that the beneficiaries should not face any problem.
Besides this, Gulzar Singh Ranike also took stock of arrangements in place for the distribution of free text books to students and directed the officials for the smooth operation of this scheme.
