Record Drop in Stubble Burning Cases in Tarn Taran Thanks to Efforts of CM Bhagwant Mann: Harmeet Singh Sandhu
AAP candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu shed light on the pro-people achievements of the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann in Tarn Taran district. He said that owing to the policies of the AAP government, not only has there been significant success in improving the environment, but also historic steps have been taken to support farmers financially and to ensure better healthcare for the people.
Tarn Taran, October 28, 2025: AAP candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu shed light on the pro-people achievements of the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann in Tarn Taran district. He said that owing to the policies of the AAP government, not only has there been significant success in improving the environment, but also historic steps have been taken to support farmers financially and to ensure better healthcare for the people.
Citing official data, Sandhu stated that due to the joint efforts of the district administration and the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, there has been a record decline in stubble burning incidents. He said that while there were 2,026 such cases in 2023-24, thanks to the awareness efforts by the Mann government, these reduced to only 876 in 2024-25.
He further said that the government is also providing farmers with necessary alternatives for managing crop residue. Sandhu shared that during 2025-26, 807 modern agricultural machines have been provided to the farmers of the district, for which the government has issued subsidy of ₹13 crore.
Highlighting the initiatives for water conservation, Sandhu said that under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the focus has been placed on saving both water. Accordingly, during 2025-26, 454 farmers in Tarn Taran district have carried out direct sowing of paddy on 3,919 acres of land. Sandhu assured that the Punjab Government will provide these farmers with a grant of ₹1,500 per acre as an incentive.
Harmeet Singh Sandhu stated that the focus of the AAP government is not only on agriculture and the environment but also on the health of common people. Referring to the success of the ‘CM di Yogshala’ campaign, he mentioned that 18 yoga instructors are conducting classes in Tarn Taran district. In addition, 58 yoga trainees are pursuing diplomas while also conducting classes.
He further informed that currently, 180 yoga classes are being conducted regularly across the district, benefiting the elderly, children, and youth alike. Sandhu said it is a major achievement of the Mann government that nearly 5,000 people practice yoga daily in these classes to improve their health. He concluded that these figures clearly prove that the Aam Aadmi Party government is working effectively on all fronts and ensuring that people can truly experience change.
