RCF Kapurthala organise Vendor Development Program
Kapurthala, September 20, 2025: Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala, aimed at strengthening the participation of industry and suppliers in the production of railway coaches, organized a Vendor Development Program today at the RCF Waris Shah Hall. The program provided a platform for approximately 500 potential vendors and entrepreneurs from Punjab and surrounding areas to understand RCF's procurement processes, quality standards, and technical requirements for the supply of components and services. The meeting focused on expanding the supplier base for high-technology coach items. The meeting also emphasized the development of the MSME sector. Presentations on coach manufacturing and its components were also presented in the programme.
S S Mishra , General Manager RCF was chief guest on the occasion. It was addressed by Mishra, R.K. Jain, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer; Sanjay Aggarwal, Principal Chief Materials Manager; Ravi Kumar, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer; K.S. Asla, Principal Financial Advisor; and representatives from MSMEs.
Sanjay Aggarwal briefed the vendors on the current and future requirements of RCF, including requirements on quality and other aspects. He introduced the vendors to the railway procurement system and RCF's future coach manufacturing plans. Shri Aggrawal emphasized that quality is crucial in indigenization. Several other aspects of Make in India were also discussed by the speakers. .
Addressing the meeting, S.S. Mishra, General Manager, stated that this vendor meet is part of Indian Railways' larger vision to create a strong environment for the country's growth sector. This vision is in line with the nation's goal of achieving self-reliance in sectors critical to the country's economic development. An interactive session was also held at the vendor meet, in which vendors expressed their efforts to localize coach components, besides providing best quality. They stated that their industry has the capability to locally manufacture items that are currently imported.
An exhibition was also held on the occasion, showcasing coach components. The meeting was compeered by Amit Rana, Deputy CMM.
It is noteworthy that RCF is looking for a strong vendor base as coach production targets have been significantly increased during the current financial year. RCF is committed to promoting Make in India products.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from manufacturers, MSMEs, and start-ups, fostering collaboration to enhance the indigenous supply chain for modern rail coach production.
