Kapurthala, September 24, 2026: Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala is organising ‘Swachhata Hi Seva Abhiyan-2026’ from September 17 to October 2. The campaign aims to create greater awareness about cleanliness and encourage public participation in maintaining clean and healthy workplaces, residential areas and the surrounding environment.
The campaign was inaugurated on September 17 by RCF General Manager Ajay Nandan, who administered the cleanliness pledge to officers and employees. He called upon everyone to make cleanliness a part of their daily lives and actively contribute towards keeping the RCF premises clean.
Under the campaign, a door-to-door awareness drive was conducted in the RCF Colony in accordance with the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026. Residents were sensitised about segregating waste into four different categories, making compost from household waste and reducing the use of single-use plastic. In addition, awareness and demonstration sessions were organised for students of Punjab Government schools and Kendriya Vidyalaya located in the RCF Colony. The sessions focused on proper waste segregation and keeping wet, dry, domestic hazardous and other waste separately, besides creating awareness about cleanliness and environmental protection.
Various activities such as cleanliness awareness programmes, art competitions in schools and street plays are being organised under the campaign. Specific areas requiring cleanliness in workshops, offices and the colony have been identified for intensive cleaning. Special attention is also being given to the removal of waste and unwanted material and the cleaning of drains and toilets.
The use of cloth/jute bags, plastic bottle crushing machines and cleanliness selfie points is also being encouraged. Besides, initiatives such as clear desks, minimum printing, digital documentation, use of reusable bottles/cups and proper maintenance of solar-powered equipment are being promoted.
Through this campaign, RCF is making efforts to ensure that cleanliness is not limited to a particular campaign but becomes a part of daily behaviour and collective responsibility.
