Ranike reviews working of animal husbandry department

Gulzar Singh Ranike, Minister for Animal Husbandry Fisheries and Dairy Development Punjab on Tuesday reviewing the functioning of Animal Husbandry Department in a high level meeting of top brass of department and officers from districts in Chandigarh.

Chandigarh, October 22, 2013: Gulzar Singh Ranike, Minister for Animal Husbandry Fisheries and Dairy Development Punjab today reviewed the functioning of Animal Husbandry Department and issued directions to the officers to achieve the remaining target of providing medical treatment to a total 50 lakh animals in the state.  
Reviewing the function in a high level meeting of top brass of department and officers from districts, Ranike said it was appreciable that department teams has accomplished more than 50 percent given task and issued directions to complete the target before December end.  He said that teams should work with full commitment and dedication and no laxity would be accepted at any level in this regard. Ranike also reviewed the functioning of semen banks at Nabha and Ropar and said that for different types of tests and treatment for animals there were 19 polyclinics in the state.
The Minister also informed that Punjab has launched various schemes for the development of Poultry and Piggery farms under which chicks and piglets were being provided on subsidized rates. He said that Punjab has provided more than 90,000 chicks to various poultry farms.
Prominent amongst those were present in the meeting included Dr. G. Vajralingam Finance Commissioner Animal Husbandry, Dr. H.S. Sandha Director Animal Husbandry, Dr. Amarjit Singh Joint Director Animal Husbandry and Deputy Directors from across the state. www.cityairnews.com
