RANBHOOMI 2026 draws 300+ participants at Panjab University South Campus interdepartmental sports meet
Panjab University (PU) South Campus held it's two-day interdepartmental sports event RANBHOOMI 2026, organised by the Sports Club, University Institute of Applied Management Sciences (UIAMS), bringing together over 300 students from various departments.
Chandigarh, March 24, 2026: Panjab University (PU) South Campus held it's two-day interdepartmental sports event RANBHOOMI 2026, organised by the Sports Club, University Institute of Applied Management Sciences (UIAMS), bringing together over 300 students from various departments.
The event saw participation from departments including UIAMS, UIET, Dr Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences, and departments of Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Microbiology and Nuclear Medicine.
Matches across multiple sports were held over two days, with students competing in basketball, volleyball, cricket, football, chess, table tennis and tug of war. The final day featured championship matches, drawing participation and support from students and faculty.
UIAMS emerged prominently across several categories. In basketball (boys), UIAMS secured the top position, while Biochemistry won the girls’ 3v3 category. In chess, winners included participants from UIET, UIAMS and Micro Biotechnology.
In table tennis, UIAMS dominated across categories including girls’ singles and doubles, and boys’ singles and doubles. UIAMS also secured top positions in volleyball, tug of war (boys and girls), cricket (girls) and football (boys).
Director, UIAMS, Prof. Anupreet Kaur Mavi, inaugurated the event and highlighted the role of sports in fostering teamwork, discipline and leadership among students.
Chief guests Anwar Ali, former Indian international football defender, and Randeep Singh, Indian international midfielder, interacted with participants and spoke on discipline and perseverance in sports.
Prof. Amandeep Singh Marwaha and Prof. Naveen Kumar also addressed the gathering.
The inauguration concluded with a ceremonial football kick-off. The event was coordinated by the Sports Club, UIAMS, under the leadership of Arsh Bagga, along with Shubham Chaudhary and Vishal Thakur, with support from the organising team.
