Ludhiana, September 29, 2026: The Department of Hindi of Ramgarhia Girls College, organised a special extension lecture dedicated to Hindi Diwas on the theme “The Present Form of the Hindi Language and New Possibilities for the Future.”
The programme aimed to acquaint students with the evolving status of Hindi, its changing linguistic landscape, and the emerging possibilities for the language in the contemporary era. Dr. Mukesh Kumar Arora, former Head of the Postgraduate Department of Hindi at SCD Government College, Ludhiana, and Member, Senate, Panjab University, Chandigarh, graced the occasion as the distinguished speaker.
Dr. Kirandeep Kaur, Principal, Master Tara Singh Memorial College for Women, Ludhiana, was also present on the occasion. The guests were warmly welcomed by Principal Dr. Ajit Kaur and Mandeep Kaur, Head, Department of Hindi.
In his insightful address, Dr. Mukesh Kumar Arora traced the development and contemporary trajectory of Hindi, with particular emphasis on its evolving role amid technological and social transformations. He observed that Hindi has moved beyond the conventional domains of literature and communication and is witnessing expanding opportunities across digital platforms, media, education, administration and professional spheres.
Principal Dr. Ajit Kaur welcomed the distinguished speaker and highlighted the academic significance of such initiatives, stating, “Extension lectures provide students with valuable exposure to contemporary perspectives while broadening their intellectual horizons. Such academic engagements also strengthen their understanding of the dynamic role and relevance of language in a rapidly changing world.”
The programme also featured a Hindi poetry recitation by the students, adding a creative dimension to the academic observance. The distinguished guests were honoured with momentos as a gesture of appreciation.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks proposed by Mandeep Kaur, Head, Department of Hindi, who expressed gratitude to the guests, faculty members and students for their participation and support.
