Ramgarhia Girls College Celebrates Teej with Cultural Extravaganza and Traditional Fervour

Ludhiana, August 14, 2026: Ramgarhia Girls College celebrated the vibrant festival of Teej with great enthusiasm, traditional fervour and a strong sense of cultural pride. The celebration provided students with an opportunity to showcase their creativity and talent while remaining connected to the rich cultural heritage of Punjab.
Rajinder Kaur, MD, GS Radiators, was the Guest of the Day and was accorded a warm welcome by Principal Dr. Ajit Kaur. S. Ranjodh Singh, President, Ramgarhia Educational Council, and Prof. Ranjit Singh (USA) also graced the occasion. The celebrations featured a colourful array of activities, including music and dance performances, an exhibition of traditional heritage items of Punjab, the Miss Teej Contest, Gidha and stalls put up by students. The campus resonated with the festive spirit as students participated enthusiastically and displayed their artistic, cultural and entrepreneurial talents. The exhibition of Punjabi heritage items was a major attraction, offering visitors a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle, customs and cultural richness of Punjab. Items such as Phulkari, pakhia, parande, charkhe, traditional Punjabi utensils and other handcrafted articles beautifully showcased the rich artistic traditions and everyday life of Punjab.The student stalls featuring crochet, nail art, bangles, eatables and other products further added vibrancy to the event, showcasing the creativity and enterprise of the students.The much-awaited Miss Teej Contest was organised with great enthusiasm. Students dressed in beautiful traditional Punjabi attire participated with confidence and grace. Anureet Kaur of B.Com III was crowned Teeyan di Rani, Arshdeep Kaur of B.A. I was given the title of Teeyan di Sohni Mutiyaar, and Kareena of B.Com III was honoured as Punjaban Mutiyaar, earning appreciation for their impressive performances. In the Gidha Contest, the B.Com team secured first position, followed by the BCA team in second place. 
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Ajit Kaur said, “Teej is not merely a festival, it is a celebration of our cultural identity, traditions and the joyous spirit of womanhood. Such celebrations provide our students with an opportunity to remain connected to their roots while expressing themselves creatively and confidently. I am delighted to see the enthusiasm and talent displayed by our students.” Principal Dr. Ajit Kaur also appreciated the sincere efforts of Dr. Harbinder Kaur, Head, PG Department of Punjabi, and Prof. Harinderjeet Kaur from the Department of Home Science for organising the event so effectively and for providing the students with a meaningful platform to celebrate and showcase the rich cultural heritage of Punjab. She lauded the faculty members and students for their dedication, creativity and enthusiastic participation in making the celebrations a memorable success. 
Ranjodh Singh congratulated the students and staff and said, “Our heritage is our strength, and it is our responsibility to preserve it and pass it on to the younger generation. The enthusiastic participation of our students in the Teej celebrations reflects their respect for Punjabi culture and traditions. I congratulate the Principal, faculty and students for organising such a vibrant and meaningful celebration.” The event concluded on a joyous note, leaving everyone with cherished memories of the colourful festival.
