Rajya Sabha MP Sant Seechewal to launch major plantation drive alongside 'Buddha Dariya' on World Wetlands Day (Feb 2)  

With an aim to save the environment and promote greenery alongside 'Buddha Dariya', Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechwal will launch a major plantation drive alongside 'Buddha Dariya' in the city on World Wetlands Day (February 2). The drive would be launched from the site at the backside of historic Gurudwara Gau Ghat.

Ludhiana, January 31, 2024: With an aim to save the environment and promote greenery alongside 'Buddha Dariya', Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal will launch a major plantation drive alongside 'Buddha Dariya' in the city on World Wetlands Day (February 2). The drive would be launched from the site at the backside of historic Gurudwara Gau Ghat. 

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Seechewal stated that Punjab Chief Minister (CM) S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led state government is rigorously working to clean water bodies across the state and transform the state back into 'Rangla Punjab'. This goal can only be achieved if everyone steps forward and takes a pledge to stop pollution.

MP Seechewal conducted a meeting with Municipal Corporation (MC) officials and members of the Gurudwara Management Committee in the Gurdwara Gau Ghat on Wednesday and urged the residents to participate in the plantation drive which will be launched on February 2. MP Seechewal also inspected the 'Buddha Dariya' site at the backside of the Gurudwara. 

MC Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh, PPCB Chief Engineer Pardeep Gupta, President of Management Committee of Gurudwara Gaughat Nek Singh Sekhewal, Head Granthi Sohan Singh, Manager Shamsher Singh, Shahi Imaam Punjab Mohammad Usman Rehmani Ludhianvi among others were also present on the occasion. 

President of Gurdwara Management Committee Nek Singh said that coincidently February 2 is also the birthday of MP Seechewal and they would be launching the plantation drive on the same day from Gurudwara Gau Ghat. 
 
MP Seechewal said that Gurudwara Gau Ghat holds historic and religious importance as Guru Nanak Dev Ji visited the site. Guru Nanak Dev Ji also stressed upon keeping the environment clean and everyone should come forward to save the environment from pollution. Everyone including the industrialists, dairy owners etc should take pledge to stop pollution in the 'Buddha Dariya' and the residents will witness a positive change at the ground level within a short period of time.

MP Seechewal said that for seeking 'Sarbat Da Bhala', 'Sri Akhand Paath Sahib' has also been commenced at Gurudwara Gau Ghat. The bhog ceremony of 'Sri Akhand Paath Sahib' would be held on February, 2, following which the plantation drive would be commenced.
   
While directing the authorities to work efficiently on the project to clean 'Buddha Dariya', MP Seechewal said that the AAP government in the state and administration is working to clean the water bodies, but the residents should also contribute their bit in the fight against pollution. 

Stating that the plantation drive alongside 'Buddha Dariya' would be taken up in phases, MP Seechewal appealed to the public to step forward and take part in the drive in large numbers.
