Rajya Sabha MP Jangra directs the installation of Permanent Pump Houses in Water Logging Areas for Drainage
Rajya Sabha MP Ramchandra Jangra directed that permanent pump houses be established for drainage of agricultural land areas facing waterlogging. He was addressing a meeting with officials regarding the development and public facilities of Meham. Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Anand Kumar Sharma, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Narendra Kumar were also present.

Rohtak, August 26, 2025: Rajya Sabha MP Ramchandra Jangra directed that permanent pump houses be established for drainage of agricultural land areas facing waterlogging. He was addressing a meeting with officials regarding the development and public facilities of Meham. Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Anand Kumar Sharma, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Narendra Kumar were also present.
MP Jangra said that waterlogged areas have already been identified. Therefore, pipelines, pump sets and power connections laid there must not be removed. As soon as the rains come, drainage work should start immediately with just a switch-on system in place. He emphasized that preparations must be made in advance for a permanent solution. He instructed that continuous monitoring by the Municipal Committee should be ensured to make Meham clean and beautiful, and strict action should be taken to remove encroachments. He also directed officials to remodel the Jal Bharat and Farmana Chungi ponds.
Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta said that Meham will be developed not only as a clean and beautiful town but also as a model in terms of public facilities. He assured that all instructions given by the MP would be strictly implemented by the concerned departments. He said he has already visited the waterlogged areas, and irrigation department officials are continuously working on drainage. Additional pump sets will soon be installed after necessary approvals.
On development works, the DC directed that there should be no compromise on the quality of construction materials. He informed that renovation of the Town Park in Meham is being carried out at a cost of about ₹1.5 crore, and an estimate has been prepared for setting up a library in the old Municipal Committee building. A storm water drainage project worth ₹80 crore has been tendered, and similarly, a drinking water supply project worth ₹81 crore has also been tendered, which will start soon. In addition, Meham will soon receive a jetting machine for sewer cleaning. The DC also ordered strict action against drug peddlers and directed police to conduct regular patrols, set up checkpoints, and run checking drives.
After the meeting, DC Sachin Gupta inspected the Jal Bharat pond site and issued necessary instructions for its improvement. For city drainage, a disposal unit will be constructed at the pond by the Public Health Engineering Department.
