Rajiv Gandhi remembered on death anniversary

New Delhi, May 21 (IANS) The nation Wednesday remembered former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 23rd death anniversary.

President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh along with the late leader's wife, Congress president Sonia Gandhi paid floral tributes to the departed leader at his memorial here.

Rajiv Gandhi's son Rahul Gandhi, daughter Priyanka and son-in-law Robert Vadra were also present on the occasion.

A number of children also offered floral tributes at the memorial.

Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated May 21, 1991 in Tamil Nadu's Sriperumbudur by Tamil Tigers while campaigning during the general election.
