Rajasthan Chief Secy orders stronger digital tracking for high‑risk pregnancies

Jaipur, July 21 (IANS) Rajasthan Chief Secretary V. Srinivas chaired a high‑level review meeting at Swasthya Bhawan on Tuesday to strengthen safe maternity services across the state, with a special focus on improving the digital monitoring and referral management of high‑risk pregnancies.

The meeting, held via video conference, reviewed maternal healthcare services, high‑risk pregnancy monitoring, referral mechanisms, digital tracking systems, and the preparedness of government hospitals to deliver care.

The Chief Secretary issued key directives to enhance real‑time monitoring and ensure timely medical intervention. During the review, Srinivas sought updates from officials and field health workers on high‑risk pregnant women and all Caesarean deliveries conducted in government hospitals over the past 24 hours.

Officials informed him that all high‑risk deliveries during this period were successful and safe. He directed the Medical and Health Department and frontline health workers to maintain continuous monitoring of every expectant mother admitted.

The Chief Secretary also interacted directly with Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) from Jaipur, Churu and Jhunjhunu, instructing them to ensure regular follow‑ups of high‑risk pregnancies, closely monitor expected delivery dates, facilitate timely medical consultations, and arrange prompt referrals whenever required.

Reviewing the ‘Setu Digital Emergency Healthcare Software’ developed by RNT Medical College, Srinivas instructed the Medical and Health Department to develop a similar integrated digital platform in collaboration with the Department of Information Technology.

The proposed system will be made accessible to ANMs, Community Health Officers (CHOs) and other field health workers to strengthen real‑time tracking and referral management of pregnant women across the state.

He also reviewed the availability of medicines, medical equipment and hospital inventory management with the Rajasthan Medical Services Corporation Limited (RMSCL). Additionally, he directed officials to develop standardised protocols for microbiology services and issue a Record of Procedure (ROP) to ensure uniformity and quality in healthcare services across government institutions.

Emphasising the need for stronger monitoring, the Chief Secretary called for the establishment of a state‑level control room dedicated to safe motherhood services. The facility will enable continuous monitoring of pregnant women and new mothers while supporting faster decision‑making during emergencies.

Principal Secretary (Medical and Health) Gayatri Rathore instructed officials to implement the proposed digital monitoring system without delay.

She also stressed the importance of continuing daily video conference reviews from the state level to field units, along with regular compilation, analysis and monitoring of health data for every pregnant woman and new mother.
