Rahul Gandhi Spoke the Truth on Punjab’s Drug Crisis, AAP Government Is Rattled: Randhawa

Chandigarh, September 9, 2026: Member of Parliament and former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said that the questions raised by Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha regarding the drug situation in Punjab have exposed the reality of the Aam Aadmi Party government. He said that the agitation and frustration of Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over the issue raised by Rahul Gandhi before the country is clearly visible. He said that if the government’s claims were true, there would have been no need for such a sharp reaction. Leaders associated with the government themselves have been caught allegedly involved in selling drugs.
Randhawa said that Rahul Gandhi has merely raised a serious issue concerning the youth and families of Punjab. He said that instead of attacking the Opposition, Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann should answer why, despite repeatedly claiming that drugs would be eradicated, the issue continues to remain a major concern in Punjab.
Referring to the death of Gulzar Singh, Randhawa said that the incident raises serious questions about how the government is treating those who question its claims. Randhawa alleged that instead of responding to criticism, the government is attempting to suppress voices of dissent, which is a matter of concern for democracy. He demanded that Bhagwant Mann should register a case against his Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema. He said that Gulzar Singh’s death will make the Punjab government’s path very difficult.
Randhawa said that the Aam Aadmi Party government has been trying for the past four-and-a-half years to project Punjab as a drug-free state. However, the reality is that instead of declining, drugs have become increasingly available in households across Punjab. This is why drugs continue to be easily available in villages and cities across the state, while the future of the youth is being continuously ruined. He said that a government’s intentions and performance should be judged by its results, not by propaganda.
He said that the Congress will continue to raise the issue of Punjab’s drug crisis and will keep demanding transparency and accountability from the state government. Randhawa said that the people of Punjab no longer want hollow claims. The AAP government must take effective action against drugs and ensure a safe future for the youth.
