Mumbai (Anil Bedag): At a time when most films begin to slow down at the box office after their initial run, R. Madhavan’s ambitious film GDN has carved out a distinct space for itself. Released on August 7, the biographical drama continues to draw audiences to theatres even in its fourth week.
Based on the life and visionary ideas of legendary Indian inventor G.D. Naidu, the film features R. Madhavan in the lead role, while he has also taken on the responsibility of co-producer. One of the film’s biggest strengths has been its strong word of mouth. After receiving an encouraging response from families, professionals and senior audiences in the initial weeks, the film is now attracting large numbers of school and college students as well.
Madhavan says the film’s objective was to bring the inspiring story of G.D. Naidu to audiences across generations. The continued audience presence in the fourth week stands as a testament to the success of that endeavour.
Directed by Krishnakumar Ramkumar, GDN is produced by Varghese Moolan Pictures and Tricolour Films. Its upcoming Netflix premiere is expected to take the inspiring story to audiences across the globe.
