Punjab’s Identity is Milk, Curd, Lassi and Desi Ghee, Not Drugs: Tarun Chugh

Amritsar/Chandigarh, May 24, 2026: Under the guidance of BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, a large-scale public awareness campaign was launched today in the Central Assembly constituency of Amritsar to make Punjab drug-free. As part of the campaign, milk, curd, lassi and desi ghee were distributed among people to promote Punjab’s glorious culture, healthy traditions and positive way of life.

On this occasion, Tarun Chugh said that the soil of Punjab has always been identified with brave soldiers, farmers, Gurus and hardworking people. Punjab has historically been known for its culture of milk, curd, lassi and desi ghee, but unfortunately, the wrong policies and political selfishness of previous governments pushed the state into the swamp of drugs. Today, thousands of families are being destroyed due to drug addiction, mothers are losing their sons and the future of the youth is falling into darkness.

Tarun Chugh said that the BJP will fight from the streets to the legislature to save Punjab’s youth power. He said this is not merely a programme, but a mission to protect the soul of Punjab and secure the future of coming generations. Punjab’s true identity lies in the teachings of the Gurus, the prosperity of its farms, its sporting culture and the energy of its youth, not in drugs.

He stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government is continuously working to provide a new direction to the youth. Several initiatives have been launched for employment, sports, education and skill development, but the growing network of drugs in Punjab remains a serious matter of concern. BJP is not doing politics on this issue; rather, it is working to awaken society and save the youth.

Chugh said that drugs destroy not just an individual, but entire families and society. Therefore, every citizen, social organisation, religious institution and young person must come forward in this fight. He asserted that BJP’s awareness campaign will continue until every village, every street and every household in Punjab becomes drug-free.

Appealing to the youth, he urged them to move forward in sports, education, social service and nation-building, and to firmly say “No” to drugs. He said that Punjab’s real strength lies in its hardworking and energetic youth, and BJP will continue making every possible effort to protect this strength.

During the programme, people present took a collective pledge to spread awareness against drugs, guide the youth towards a positive path and make Punjab drug-free.
