Punjabi Sahit Akademi, Ludhiana, Condemns Punjab Government’s Attitude Towards Punjabi Language and Director of Language Department
: The office-bearers, members of the managing board and general members of the Punjabi Sahit Akademi, Ludhiana, strongly condemned the attitude of the Punjab Government towards the Director of the Language Department, Punjab.
Ludhiana, October 1, 2026: The office-bearers, members of the managing board and general members of the Punjabi Sahit Akademi, Ludhiana, strongly condemned the attitude of the Punjab Government towards the Director of the Language Department, Punjab. According to reports published in various newspapers, a show-cause notice has been issued to the Director of the Language Department, Punjab, by the Administrative Secretary of Higher Education and Languages, Punjab Government.
President of the Punjabi Sahit Akademi, Ludhiana, Dr. Sarbjit Singh, Senior Vice-President Dr. Pal Kaur and General Secretary Dr. Gulzar Singh Pandher, in a statement issued to the press, said that the allegations mentioned in the notice were baseless. They said that the attitude of the Punjab Government towards the Language Department, Punjabi language and the mother tongue Punjabi had not been appreciable in the past either.
Some time ago, the Punjabi Sahit Akademi, Ludhiana, had also issued a statement expressing concern over what it described as the Punjab Government’s condemnable attitude towards the Language Department. They said that after the issuance of the notice, it appeared that instead of changing its approach, the bureaucracy they described as "anti-Punjabi" was becoming more rigid.
They said that the Director of the Language Department, Punjab, is a distinguished writer and poet who has been wholeheartedly working for the mother tongue.
The Punjabi Sahit Akademi, Ludhiana, therefore, strongly urged the Punjab Government to keep what it described as an “anti-Punjabi” bureaucratic approach under control and adopt a people-oriented approach. Otherwise, it said, the Punjabi Sahit Akademi, Ludhiana, along with literary organisations and organisations working for the Punjabi language, would be compelled to launch a struggle.

Sadhu Singh, Bhupinder Singh Sandhu, Sanjeevan Singh, Dr. Simarjit Kaur Gill, Dr. Tarspal Kaur, Manjinder Singh Dhanoa, Trailochan Lochi, Prabhjot Singh Sohi, Prin.
