Punjabi Sahit Academy to Hold Felicitation Function Dedicated to Its 72nd Foundation Day: Dr. Sarabjit Singh
Punjabi Sahit Academy, Ludhiana will organize a grand felicitation function on October 26, dedicated to the 72nd Foundation Day of the Academy. President Dr. Sarabjit Singh stated that the Academy was formally established on October 24, 1954, with the eminent scholar Bhai Jodh Singh as its founding president and Dr. Sher Singh as the first general secretary. Over the years, with the cooperation of Punjabi literary enthusiasts across the state, the Academy has achieved remarkable milestones and successfully completed 71 years of service to Punjabi literature.

Ludhiana, October 24, 2025: Punjabi Sahit Academy, Ludhiana will organize a grand felicitation function on October 26, dedicated to the 72nd Foundation Day of the Academy. President Dr. Sarabjit Singh stated that the Academy was formally established on October 24, 1954, with the eminent scholar Bhai Jodh Singh as its founding president and Dr. Sher Singh as the first general secretary. Over the years, with the cooperation of Punjabi literary enthusiasts across the state, the Academy has achieved remarkable milestones and successfully completed 71 years of service to Punjabi literature.
This year, 12 eminent Punjabi litterateurs will be honoured during the event. Hardeep Singh Mundian, Cabinet Minister, Punjab, will grace the occasion as chief guest, while Dr. S. S. Johl will preside over the function.
Earlier today, the Academy officials and members, under the leadership of Dr. Gulzar Singh Pandher, General Secretary, held a meeting at Punjabi Bhawan to review the preparations for the upcoming celebration. Among those present were Dr. Gur Iqbal Singh, former General Secretary; Surinder Kaile, former Senior Vice President; Gurcharan Kaur Kochar, Vice President; Dr. Hari Singh Jachak, Secretary (Literary Activities); K. Sadhu Singh; and Meet Anmol.
Dr. Gulzar Singh Pandher briefed the members about the Academy’s journey since its inception and informed that Dr. Hari Singh Jachak is currently compiling a comprehensive history of the Academy, which will soon be published as a book. He further said that under the guidance of President Dr. Sarabjit Singh, all office-bearers and members are actively involved in the arrangements, and preparations for the 72nd Foundation Day celebrations are in full swing.
