Ludhiana, April 14, 2018: Punjab Sabhyacharak Akademi in collaboration with Senior Citizens' Welfare Association, Ludhiana organized a Punjab Ghazal Singing Concert today at Silver Oak Resorts, Ludhiana. Eminent ghazal singers like K.Deep, Sunil Dogra, Neel Khosla, Pardeep Kumar, Pratima, Tarunam and Deepika Dhir sang Punjabi ghazals to the tunes of highly professional orchastra.

During this concert, the ghazals of Shiv Kumar Batalvi, SurjitPatar, Gurbhajan Gill, Gurcharan Kaur Kochar and Dr.S.N.Sewak were song by the singing artists. The programme was coordinated by Dr.Deepika Dhir with the active cooperation of Mr.Manjit Singh Mehram and Mr.Pavittar Singh Sandhu. The programme lasted for over three hours and the elite audience was spell bound all along the concert.

Sh. S.P. Karkara, Formerly Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana, Commissioner, Ludhiana and Registrar Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana presided over the function. He is also currently the President of the Senior Citizens' Welfare Association. He welcomed the guests and the singing artists and express happiness that they were organizing a rich cultural programme to celebrate the Baisakhi Festival.

Before the programme, a minutes silence was observe to pay tributes to Pyare Lal Vadali, a Great Sufi Singer who passed away last month.

Mr.Balkar Singh Sidhu, Mayor, MC, Ludhiana graced the occasion. He also distributed Awards of Honour to the singing artists. Mr. S.P. Karkara, President of the Association, greately admire the performance of all singing artists specially that of Sunil Dogra, ManpreetSagar and Pardeep Kumar. While proposing the vote of thanks, Dr. S.N. Sewak, the President of the Akademi, pointed out that it was a new experiment which the Akademi had done to promote this literary genre in Punjabi. He hoped that Punjab ghazal singing would become as popular as Urdu ghazal singing in future.
