Chandigarh, September 28, 2013: The Punjab Irrigation Retired Engineers Association today organised a seminar on the 'Youth Welfare' here at Institutions of Engineers in Sector 19-A in which eminent professionals from different walks of life participated.
The seminar was presided over by the former Director Punjab Technical University and ex-Principal of Doaba College Jalandhar Dr. RP Bhardwaj whereas Deputy Chairman of Haryana Urdu Akademi Padamshree KL Zakir was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
During deliberations the forum dwelt upon the burning issue of unemployment and underscored the need to impart technical education to youth for sharpening their skills so that they could be gainfully employed. The forum exhorted the Retired Engineers to play a proactive role in achieving this goal as they could share their vast experience and expertise with the youth to tap their hidden potential by organising camps in schools and colleges, which would go a long way in shaping their destiny to become ideal citizens of the society. It was also the high time to imbibe the spirit of nationalism and secularism amongst them so that they could serve the society with missionary zeal.
Realising the hardships faced by the youth and to ensure their overall welfare and development,   a forum named “National Forum  for Youth Welfare”  has been formulated with Dr. R.P. Bhardwaj as Chairman,  Principal S. Chaudhary  Vice Chairman, Er. Narinder Sharma Chief Engineer ( Retd.) Vice Chairman, S. Gurnam Singh, Advisor and Er. K.L. Bhargava Chief Organiser. The Forum would submit proposals to the Central and State Governments on the following three issues viz: to include subject of “Nationalism in Practice” in the syllabus of schools from the fourth standard, introduce induction training to new entrants in all Government Jobs and trace out the talent and aptitude of the youth and to impart multipurpose training by the Government to make every youth employable for constructive work and meaningful life to live.
The Chief Guest K.L. Zakir   highly appreciated the patriotic spirit of the professionals and termed it as the first forum of its kind in the country which has taken a lead to promote nationalism and bring awakening amongst the youth besides urging the public to think of their welfare.
