Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Mayor Inderjit Kaur participate in 'Run For Humanity'
Amidst rising global tensions and conflicts in different parts of the world, thousands of runners gathered in the city on Sunday to participate in the ‘Run for Humanity’ marathon, organised by Daswandh Foundation in collaboration with Team 1699.
Ludhiana, March 15, 2026: Amidst rising global tensions and conflicts in different parts of the world, thousands of runners gathered in the city on Sunday to participate in the ‘Run for Humanity’ marathon, organised by Daswandh Foundation in collaboration with Team 1699.
Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur participated in the marathon, organised with the aim of spreading a message of peace, unity, and compassion.
Addressing the huge gathering, Kultar Singh Sandhwan said, "In today's times, when there is an atmosphere of unrest across the world, there is a need to spread the message of peace. On the land of Punjab, humanity has always flourished. We are very fortunate to be born on this land where all religions are considered equal and respected."
He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government is moving forward to make Punjab vibrant and prosperous once again. He praised Punjab's interfaith legacy in the Ludhiana Marathon and called upon people from all sections of society to contribute to making Punjab the 'Sone Di Chiri' once again.
Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur, along with Harleen Kaur of NGO Act Humane and Hardeep Kaur Boparai (President of the women's wing of the Daswandh Foundation), flagged off the marathon. The marathon commenced from Ghumar Mandi Chowk early in the morning and passed through various parts of the city, including College Road, Prince Hostel, and Fountain Chowk, before concluding at Rani Jhansi Road.
The organising team, led by President Daswandh Foundation Jasdev Sekhon, Sikh Scholar Parampal Singh, Founder Team 1699 Gursahib Singh, K Pushpinder Singh, Davinder Nagi, Parminder Singh, Gurdeep Singh, and Sukhdev Singh Phagwara, among others, stated that thousands of participants from different age groups, including youth, senior citizens, and members of social organisations, enthusiastically joined the run to promote humanitarian values.
Religious leaders, including Punjab Shahi Imaam Muhammad Usman Rahmani Ludhianvi, Bishop John Grewal, and Parveen Choudhary from Maa Baglamukhi Dham, among others, also participated in the event to spread unity and religious harmony.
Supporting organisations included CityNeeds, Varinder Mittal from Durga Mata Mandir committee, Didar Singh, and Mehal Singh, among others, who contributed to the smooth conduct of the event.
Public representatives and social activists, among others also participated in the 'Run for Humanity'.
The dignitaries, including Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur among others, prayed for 'Sarbat Da Bhala' and appreciated the organisers for the event that promotes harmony and collective responsibility towards humanity.
Organisers said the marathon aimed to encourage citizens to stand together for humanity and peace in challenging times. Participants expressed hope that such initiatives would continue to inspire communities to work collectively for a more compassionate world.
