Ludhiana, March 26,2026: Giving a major boost to road infrastructure, Cabinet Minister for Local Government, Industries & Commerce, Investment Promotion and Power Sanjeev Arora inaugurated different road projects worth over Rs 8.59 crore in the city on Thursday.
The projects have been launched for reconstruction of old GT road stretch from Jalandhar bypass till Buddha Dariya; elevated road from Chand cinema till Jagraon bridge and the road from Saggu chowk till Hambran road. 
The old GT road and elevated road projects are being taken up at a cost of Rs 7.07 crore, while the project to reconstruct the road from Saggu chowk till Hambran road is being taken up at a cost of over Rs 1.52 crore.
While launching the projects, Minister stated that road infrastructure across the state is undergoing a massive overhaul with road projects worth Rs 1000 crore to be competed by the end of April.
Stating that more projects worth crores would be launched across the city in the coming days, Minister directed the civic body officials to ensure good quality development works and blacklist the contractors, if any discrepancies are found in context to the quality of works. For ensuring good quality and long life of roads, the contractors who will construct the roads, would be responsible for the maintenance of roads for upto 5 years.
Minister stated that in addition to the Rs 1000 crore projects being taken up in the cities for upgrading road infrastructure, departments like PWD, Rural development etc are also taking up major road projects in the state. 
Minister further stated that modern machinery is being put in use for repairing the potholes on roads too. 
Cabinet Minister Arora stated that rigorous efforts are also being made to rejuvenate 'Buddha Dariya' and a positive change is already being witnessed at the ground level. 
Minister reiterated the commitment of National convener Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led state government to make 'Rangla Punjab' and ensure sustainable development across the state. He stated that people-centric projects are being taken up by the state government to facilitate the public at large.
