Khanna (Ludhiana), February 7, 2026: Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond on Saturday statef that Punjab has achieved the top position in the education sector across the country. 

In the Parents-Teachers Workshop-2 held at Kishori Lal Jethi (Girls) School of Eminence, Khanna, the Cabinet Minister held detailed discussions with teachers and parents who attended in significant numbers. He described the massive participation of parents as a very positive and encouraging sign

The Cabinet Minister informed that the Punjab Government has carried out unprecedented work in the field of education. He proudly announced that the Government of India has declared Punjab as the Number 1 state in education even surpassing Kerala in the latest evaluation. He revealed around 80,000 students have left private schools and taken admission in government schools. Since 2022, 10,900 new classrooms have been constructed and renovated. 10,487 new teachers have been recruited, ensuring that no student is without a teacher. Punjab has also become the first state in the country to provide high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity in all government schools under the digital revolution.

The Minister further informed that 1,378 security guards and watchmen have been deployed to ensure the safety of students, particularly girl students. For maintaining cleanliness, 1,809 campus managers and 8,502 sanitation workers have been appointed. More than 261 students from Punjab government schools have cleared entrance tests for prestigious institutions like IITs. Additionally, 847 students have qualified for MBBS admission examinations. He added that 100% clean and functional toilets are now available in all government schools. For this purpose, 10,095 new toilets have been constructed and old unusable ones renovated. Nursery classes on the pattern of private schools have been started in government schools. He proudly stated that today no child in any government school in Punjab has to sit on the floor — every student has a desk to sit at.

During interaction with parents, Sond added that children studying in government schools are receiving high-quality education. The government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has upgraded the education system and basic infrastructure in government schools to a level better than convent and private schools. 

Parents who attended the Parents-Teachers Workshop-2 expressed great satisfaction with the transformation brought by the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government in the education sector. 

Market Committee Khanna Head Jagtar Singh Gill Ratanheri, Principal Rajesh Kumar Phull and many others were also present on the occasion.
