Sukhbir hands over land allotment letters to 27 companies to set up IT units

Chandigarh, February 17, 2014: Punjab today took a giant leap towards becoming the next IT hub of the country as today Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal handed over land allotment letters to 27 companies including Infoyses to set up their IT units at Mohali with an investment of 1000 crore, which would provide employment to nearly 30,000 youths in Punjab.
Today addressing the media persons after handing over allotment letters to companies, Deputy Chief Minister said that the recently held Progressive Punjab Investors Summit has started showing its results as in a very short span of time, the implementation of MOCs (Memorandum of Commitment) has been initiated. Terming the investment in IT sector as a historic achievement, Deputy Chief Minister said that “it is a just a beginning  and in next three years Mohali would be the first planned IT destination of the country  which would further give big push to the economic activities in the state.
Badal has said that to ensure the speedy implementation of these projects, the land has been allotted on lease for three years and if any company fails to invest within stipulated time than the MOU would be canceled by the Punjab Government. Adding further he announced that Punjab Government would review the progress of these projects on half yearly basis.
Replying to a question about employment of Punjabi youth in IT sector, Badal said that these companies would have to take the services of Punjabi youth as employees from this region in IT companies at Banglore, Pune and Hyderabad desires to settle near their homes. He said “during my visit to IT companies at Baglore and Mumbai, I met many employees who hails from Fazilka, Samana, Amritsar and Mohali”.
The Deputy Chief Minister has clarified that out of 27 companies, 15 are Multinationals and a committee under the Chief Secretary has selected these companies out of 45 by keeping in view their potential and track record.
Talking about the investment by Infosys, Badal said that company is all set to lay the foundation stone of it biggest campus in India on February 22, having capacity of 50,000 employees at Mohali.
Promising drastic changes in the Punjab in next three years, Badal said that “nothing is impossible for Punjab as Punjabi are very progressive by nature”. The Deputy Chief Minister said that all schools and villages in the state would be connected with 4G service in next one year with the investment of RS 4000 Crore. Besides that California University and Tech Mahindra have given their green signal to set up their Universities in Edu-City at New Chandigarh.
Answering the question regarding the Union Budget, presented today, the Deputy Chief Minister said that it was the last budget could be called a “Retirement Budget” of UPA as people have made their mind to wipe out the congress in Lok Sabha elections.

LTD, to invest Rs 56.25 (675) , Netsmartz Infotech India Pvt Ltd.,Chandigarh to invest Rs. 51.54 ( 400), Bebo Technologies Pvt Ltd to invest Rs 32.7 crore ( 600), Maxval Technologies Pvt Ltd. Belapur Station Complex, Mumbai to invest Rs 27 crore (300) , Allengers Medical Systems Ltd to invest Rs 25 crore ( 58) , S. E-Biz, Infotech Ltd.,to invest Rs  21 crore (600), Dr ITM Limited to invest Rs 20.61 crore ( 1352), Xeam Ventures Pvt Ltd to invest Rs 16.74 crore ( 4000), Aequor Information Technology Pvt Ltd to invest Rs. 15.75 crore ( 261), Offshore A-One Technology Pvt Ltd., to invest Rs. 12.85 crore ( 300) , Kiran Foreign Trade Pvt Ltd to invest Rs. 11 crore (1300), Cyber Futuristics India Pvt Ltd (UP) to invest Rs. 9.2 crore( 48) , Logic ERP Solutions Pvt Ltd. Ltd to invest Rs 4.13 crore (100) and IE Impact Microsystems Pvt Ltd to invest Rs 3.86 crore which would provide employment to 250 youth.
It may be mentioned here that these companies would invest Rs 974.78 crore to employ about 29056 youth.
