Punjab State Safai Karamchari Commission Vice-Chairman Surinder Kalyan on Friday held a meeting at the Civil Surgeon’s office to review the welfare of sanitation workers employed at the Civil Hospital and various community health centres.

Ludhiana, May 15, 2026: Punjab State Safai Karamchari Commission Vice-Chairman Surinder Kalyan on Friday held a meeting at the Civil Surgeon’s office to review the welfare of sanitation workers employed at the Civil Hospital and various community health centres.
During the meeting, Kalyan, along with Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr Vivek Kataria and District Immunization Officer Dr Harpreet Singh, interacted with sanitation workers and sought feedback regarding wages, provident fund (PF), ESI and other facilities being provided by contractors. Discussions were also held on measures to improve the working conditions and overall welfare of the sanitation staff.
Kalyan stated that on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, such meetings are being conducted across Punjab to address issues faced by sanitation workers at the ground level and ensure their welfare. He appreciated the contribution of sanitation employees in maintaining cleanliness in hospitals and assured them that the commission is regularly taking necessary steps for their welfare. 
Later, Kalyan also visited the Civil Hospital and interacted directly with sanitation workers to understand their concerns.
