Ludhiana, June 27, 2022: Member Punjab State Food Commission AK Sharma today conducted a surprise checking on the distribution of wheat under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Aan Yojna here in Ludhiana. 

He inspected the distribution being made by the depot holders at village Pamal and Birmi and inquired about the quality of wheat, weight and non-recovery of any amount from the beneficiaries.
He said that Punjab State Food Commission has the responsibility to ensure the implementation of National Food Security Act at the grass root level and access of foodgrains to the beneficiaries under this Act. 

The Commission member also sought information from the vilage Pamal Sarpanch Jaggi Pamal beaides taking feedback from monitoring committee of village Birmi regarding the distribution of wheat. 

Meanwhile, Mr. Sharma directed the concerned staff of the department to ensure the distribution of foodgrains as per the instructions issued by the government along with the quality and quantity of wheat as any kind of negligence in this task would be highly unwarranted. He also said that the quota for distribution of 5 kg wheat per member has been fixed and the quota of 30 kg per member is being distributed due to the arrival of 6 months' wheat. 

On the occasion, the commission member also had a meeting with Assistant Food and Supply Officer Nirpaksh Mattu, Inspectors Satwinder Singh, Gurwinder Singh and Simrat Singh and directed them to take care of social distancing in view of Covid-19 epidemic besides ensuring availability of drinking water to consumers. Apart from this the concerned staff was directed to report on the allotted e-pose machine and government weighing machines.
