Ludhiana, June 24, 2026: Punjab & Sind Bank, in association with the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), organized a successful NPS Awareness Programme for Agriculture & Allied Sectors and Rural Nano Units at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan Auditorium, Ludhiana on Wednesday.
The objective of the programme was to create awareness about the National Pension System (NPS) among farmers, agriculture-related workers, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), rural entrepreneurs, and stakeholders from the unorganized sector and encourage them to adopt NPS. The programme emphasized the importance of retirement planning and long-term financial security, especially among rural communities.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp, followed by the welcome address by Sh. Rajesh Mohan Sharma, SLBC Convenor. He highlighted the role of banks in promoting financial inclusion and social security and emphasized the importance of connecting rural communities with suitable pension schemes to secure their financial future.
The event was attended by senior officials from PFRDA and distinguished guests including Gurdeep Singh Kang, Lead District Manager (LDM), Ludhiana; Rajesh Dogra, Assistant General Manager, NABARD; Santosh Kumar Singh, Regional Manager, Punjab Gramin Bank; Neeraj Choudhary, Deputy Regional Manager, Bank of India; Manish Verma, Deputy General Manager, Central Bank of India; Uma Kant Samal, Deputy General Manager, Indian Overseas Bank and Amanpreet Singh Ghai, Chief Agriculture Department Officer.
During their addresses, the dignitaries highlighted the importance of pension coverage for individuals engaged in agriculture and allied activities and encouraged participants to adopt NPS as a reliable and flexible retirement savings platform.
The awareness programme witnessed enthusiastic participation by various FPOs, rural entrepreneurs, and representatives from agriculture and allied sectors. The significant participation of women reflected the growing awareness regarding retirement planning and long-term financial security through NPS.
As part of the programme, senior officials from PFRDA conducted a special training session on “NPS Sanchay” for Common Service Centre (CSC) representatives. The session provided detailed information about the features of NPS Sanchay, enrolment process, and awareness strategies, enabling CSC representatives to contribute effectively towards expanding pension coverage among rural and underserved communities.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, where participants received information and clarification regarding the benefits of NPS, enrolment process, and investment options.
The event reaffirmed Punjab & Sind Bank’s commitment, in association with PFRDA, towards promoting financial literacy, social security, and inclusive economic growth in rural India.
