Sahnewal (Ludhiana), May 16, 2025: Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian today dedicated infrastructure development projects worth Rs 71.50 lakh at six government schools under the Sahnewal constituency.
The inaugurated projects at Government Primary Schools (GPS) Mangli Nichi, Koom Kalan, Kishanpura, Partapgarh, Government High School (GHS), Heeran and Government Senior Secondary School in Koom Kalan mark a significant step in the Punjab Sikhya Kranti initiative to revolutionize education across the state. The development works included new smart classrooms, new computer and science labs, new boundary walls, new washrooms and etc.
During the inauguration ceremonies, Mundian emphasized the state government’s dedication to transforming education through the Punjab Sikhya Kranti initiative, backed by a Rs 2,000 crore investment. This ambitious program aims to modernize educational infrastructure by constructing contemporary school buildings, equipping smart classrooms, providing updated furniture, establishing advanced laboratories, ensuring secure boundary walls, supplying clean drinking water, and creating well-stocked libraries.
Mundian highlighted the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) 2022 election promise to revolutionize Punjab’s education and healthcare sectors, stating, “We committed to delivering world-class infrastructure and top-quality training, and today, we are turning that promise into reality.” With around 28 lakh students enrolled in Punjab’s 20,000 government schools—many of whom previously studied in poor conditions—the government has made remarkable strides over the past three years. The achievements include providing Wi-Fi connectivity to 17,000 schools to support digital learning and recruiting new teachers to enhance the quality of education.
The Students, school staff, and residents from these villages expressed heartfelt gratitude for the infrastructure improvements. They added that the new smart classrooms will transform their schools into a better environment for learning.
