Ferozepur, August 30, 2026: A routine lottery purchase turned into a life-changing windfall for Punjab Police constable Gurpreet Singh (28), who won the Rs 7-crore first prize in the Rakhi Bumper Draw. Gurpreet, a resident of Malwal Qadeem village, is currently posted on 112 emergency helpline duty in Ferozepur.
Gurpreet had purchased the ticket during a routine visit to the city for some work and had no idea that it would bring him such a huge fortune. He learnt about his win while performing sewa at Gurdwara Vajidpur Sahib on Sunday morning.
Notably, Gurpreet had joined the Punjab Police as a constable in 2022 and is currently posted on 112 duty, responding to emergency calls seeking police assistance. The news sparked celebrations at his residence, with relatives, friends and villagers turning up at his home.
It is worth mentioning here that Gurpreet is one of four siblings. His father, Darshan Singh, served as a Railway train guard before retiring in 2019. He has two married sisters and a brother.
“It is nothing short of a dream come true. I never imagined that this ticket would bring me a Rs 7-crore windfall,” Gurpreet said.
The winning ticket was sold by N K Agency at Udham Singh Chowk. Agency owner Trilok Singh and his team also celebrated the bumper win.
