Punjab Police ASI nabbed while taking bribe 

Ferozepur, November 27, 2023: Sleuths belonging to the Vigilance Bureau (VB) today nabbed a Punjab Police Assistant Sub-Inspector identified as Baldev Singh, posted at Ladhuka Mandi under Fazilka Sadar area, while accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000.

Divulging the details, VB officials said that they had received a complaint from one Parveen Kumar, a resident of Mandi Ladhuka in Fazilka district that the accused ASI had been demanding a bribe of Rs.10,000 for not including his name in a police complaint pertaining to a clash. As per the complainant, the erring ASI had already taken Rs. 20,000 in advance and had been demanding an additional amount of Rs. 10,000.

The complainant had recorded the conversation while ASI Baldev was demanding the money and handed over the same to VB as an evidence”, said VB officials, adding that after a preliminary investigation, a trap was laid and the accused was nabbed red handed while he was receiving the bribe of Rs. 10,000.

The VB officials said that a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused ASI at the VB Police Station, Ferozepur Range and further investigation in this case was under progress.
