Punjab organises three-day specialised training for e-governance programme

Chandigarh, February 27, 2014: Directorate of Governance Reforms, Punjab has organised Specialised e-Governance Training Programme (STeP) on ‘Detailed Project Report for e-Governance Projects’ (S2- DPR) for officers & officials of the state to equip them with skills and knowledge on detailed project report for e-Governance projects (S2- DPR) for state level e-Governance initiatives and e-Governance projects being implemented in the state under National e-Governance Plan (NeGP).

Divulging the details, an official spokesperson of the department said that this three days training was organized in coordination with National Institute for Smart Government (NISG), Hyderabad to build state capacity building as per guidelines of Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY), Ministry of Communications & Information Technology. He said that directors, joint directors, deputy directors, additional deputy commissioners, AC (G), SDM), in charge of e-Governance initiatives, government representatives from various departments and district offices of State, project e-governance mission teams, project management units (PMUs), nodal officers for e-Governance initiatives, field functionaries from departments, who are expected to play crucial role in e-Governance implementation in their regions, took part in the training.

On the concluding day, Kavita Singh, Special Secretary Cum Director Governance Reforms addressed the trainees. She laid focus on importance of Detailed Project Report in e-Governance projects. Singh also distributed participation certificates to officers and officials.

During the program, participants were provided knowledge on introduction to e-GLC and overview & objective of a DPR, Suggested Structure of DPR, stakeholder & problem identification and services identification & service prioritisation and service level management, introduction to information technology, : incorporation of As-Is, To-Be, GPR, change management information into DPR, solution architecture, implementation strategies & governance structures, understanding e-Governance applications, cost components of DPR, risk assessment & management, procurement options & introduction to RFP.

Sahil Abrol, consultant, PM from Punjab SeMT (DGR) gave presentation on progress of e-Governance projects in the state. B.G. Gupta and Bhushan Mohan from NISG have also shared their experience.
