Punjab News/Sangrur leads in paddy procurement

Chandigarh, November 26, 2013: The Government agencies and private millers procured more than 12676149 tonnes of Paddy till last evening.
Out of total procurement of 12676149 tonnes of paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, the Government agencies procured 12036943 tonnes of paddy (95.0%) till date whereas private traders procured 639206 tonnes (5.0%) of paddy. Till November 25, PUNGRAIN had procured 3671887 tonnes (30.5%) whereas MARKFED procured 2801332 tonnes (23.3%). PUNSUP procured 2704937 tonnes (22.5%), PSWC procured 1170695 tonnes (9.7%) whereas PAFC was able to procure 1228130 tonnes (10.2%) of paddy. The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 459962 tonnes (3.8%).
The spokesperson added that District Sangrur with 1550508 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Ludhiana with 1489275 tonnes of procurement was at second slot and district Patiala 1213146 tonnes of procurement ranked at third position.
