Chandigarh, December 2, 2013: To ease road connectivity with national capital for Malwa region the Punjab Government has initiated the process for 4 laning of
Sangrur-Khanouri road which would be a big push to strengthen the infrastructure in the state.
Disclosing this here today, Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Public Works Department Minister, Punjab said that this 60 kilometer long highway leading to New Delhi through Haryana state would be completed with the estimated cost of Rs. 600 crore. He said that all the initial formalities of this project are being completed on priority and this project would be completed by June 2016.
Dhillon informed that under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Parkash singh Badal and visionary guidance of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, Punjab is all set to become the state, having best road connectivity in the country.
He said that 33 ROBs/RUBs have been completed at a cost of Rs. 565 crore and Six ROBs/RUBs are in progress with an estimated cost of Rs. 110 crore out of which 4 would be completed during the current financial year and the remaining 2 would be completed in the next fiscal year.   He said that three New ROBs/ RUBs are proposed to be constructed with an estimated cost of Rs. 95 crore in the coming year.
He further informed that Seven High Level Bridges including HLBs over river Sutlej at Sarai Ka Pattan and Makhu and Multilane High Bridge over UBDC at Amritsar have been completed at a cost of Rs. 170 crore. Adding further he said that Four High Level Bridges including HLBs over river Sutlej at Mattewara, Ropar Byepass, HLB over river Beas at Dhanoa Pattan and HLB over river Chakki near Mirthal are in progress with an estimated cost of Rs. 270 crore.
