Punjab News/Punjab to establish 914 more Edusat labs

Chandigarh, November 26, 2013: To provide quality education to the students of even the remotest part of the State, the Punjab Government have established 2077 EDUSAT Computer Labs under NABARD Project to enhance teaching and learning process in the state schools. Besides, 914 more such EDUSAT Labs would be established in the remaining schools with a budget of Rs. 48.81 Crore.
Disclosing this an official spokesman of the Education Department said that rural students who were not able to a pay hefty fees to the coaching centers were able to prepare themselves through satellite learning and as many as 2411 students from the rural areas were selected in Engineering and Medical Colleges through this e-learning programme.
He also informed that 2791 EDUSAT classroom ends have been established with 516 Satellite Interactive Terminals (SITs) and 2291 Receive Only Terminals (ROTs) in various Government Secondary Schools and High Schools in the State.
Expressing satisfaction over the EDUSAT system providing tele-teaching in the government schools, he said that the Punjab EDUSAT Society had provided free coaching tele-services to the 10+2 students of medical and non-medical streams for competitive examinations who were unable to pay the unaffordable fees of private coaching centers. "Due to the free coaching services about 2411 students belonging to poor strata of the society were able to get admissions into the medical and engineering colleges
He further said that in addition to these competitive coaching classes, the society was broadcasting regular lectures on hard topics in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, English and Commerce to the students of Medical, Non-Medical, and Commerce. "The best of the faculty available have been roped in to deliver the best of the competitive educational content for the usage of the aspiring students
In addition to the regular prgorammes, the special programmes are also being conducted through Edusat namely Meet a Scientist Programme, Legal Literacy Mission, Soft skills Training, Career Counseling, Health Awareness-Meet a Doctor Programme,  Yoga Classes, Meet a personality, Traffic Awareness, Anti Drug Addiction Programme, Programme on Sports, Program on Scouts & Guide,  Motivational Tips for Exam Preparation, Training on financial rules for Drawing and Disbursing Officers for the overall grooming of the students.
