Chandigarh, November 26, 2013: Anil Joshi, Local Bodies Minister, Punjab today approved Rs. 4.15 crore to provide basic amenities like sewerage, roads, footpaths, interlocking and cemented streets in seven cities.

Joshi said now the Morinda, Sanaour, Alawalpur, Badhni Kalan, Jagraon, Dirba and Cheema cities would bear new look with the utilization of grants. He said that out of this amount Rs. 1.81 crore has been sanctioned for Morinda Nagar Council, Rs. 1 crore for Jagraon and Rs. 1.34 crore for Sanaour, Alawalpur, Badhni Kalan, Dirba and Cheema cities. He said that SAD-BJP Government was committed for the overall urban development and there was no shortage of funds for this purpose. He said that all basic amenities were being provided to urban population including 100 potable water, street lights and sewerage etc.

The Minister also informed that Local Bodies Department had released Rs. 751.58 crore till July this year for the overall development of 149 cities and towns of the state.
